MATURITY IN THE SOCIETY

Can maturity be called coming of age in the society, where different cultures have certain rituals such as the Mentawai Teeth sharpening of young females, the fula whip match, the Iria ceremony of the Orika tribe of Nigeria, the Hamar bull jumping of Ethiopia or even the Algonquin Indian trip were young boys are secluded and given a powerful drug known as WYSOCCAN which according to tradition causes them to forget about their childhood…how I wish a drug of sort existed to help one forget about bad memories #just saying# so back to the wysoccan drug which supposedly helps the young boys forget about their childhood memories meaning that after they get out of seclusion the young boys  would come out as adults but sometimes culture and tradition maybe wrong due to the fact that this young ones be it boys or girls may not be mentally prepared for adulthood even if they have undergo some certain rituals.
Let’s come to this present day and time to see how people might regard a person as being mature…is it when a young girl or boy attains puberty? When a boy moves out of his father’s house? When a lady gets married and starts to bear children? There are a thousand and ones ways people of this age see one as mature but before I gave the various definitions of the word MATURITY, let’s go to the father of all words “THE DICTIONARY” ACCORDING TO THE CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH DICTIONARY Maturity is the quality of behaving mentally and emotionally like an adult, QUORA defines Maturity as when you stop putting your ego as a reaction to your parent’s / elders/anyone’s wise suggestions.
Maturity does not come at a certain age to make it clear first of all, it comes from experience and some people may never achieve this fit in their lifetimes due to their various schools of thought. I came across some pictures that gave simple but precise meaning to the word Maturity but I decided not to upload the pictures but to write them down and share them with you.

MATURITY is when you understand everyone is right in their own perspective.
MATURITY is when you learn to ‘let go’.
MATURITY is when you are able to drop “expectations” from a relationship and give for the sake of giving.
MATURITY is when you understand whatever you do, you do for own peace.
MATURITY is when you stop proving to the world how intelligent you are.
MATURITY is when you don’t seek approval from others.
MATURITY is when you stop comparing with others.
MATURITY is when you are at peace with yourself.
MATURITY is when you are able to differentiate between “need’ AND “want’ and are able to let go of your wants.
MATURITY is when you realize that being alone is not always a bad feeling.
MATURITY is when you stop attaching “happiness” to material things.

MATURITY is when you stop trying to change others…..instead focus on changing yourself.
When I looked at the different meanings of MATURITY I realized a lot of us have a long way to go in attaining it but awareness is the beginning of solving challenges in one’s life so I wish us all the best in BEING AS MATURE AS WE CAN.
MATURITY is also when you stop thinking about your dreams and LIVING YOUR DREAMS.
I wish you a wonderful dear sweeties…XOXO!!!
